Army vehicle rolls down in Leh

LEH, Nov 23: Six soldiers were killed and 12 others sustained injuries, some of them critically, when a vehicle in which they were traveling skidded off the road and rolled down into a deep gorge at Jingral near Sakti, around 70 kilometers from Leh town.
The ill-fated Army vehicle was on its way from Tangste to Kharoo for canteen collection when at Jingral under the jurisdiction of Leh Police Station the vehicle skidded off the road and fell into a deep gorge.
The vehicle collided with several rocks before landing at the bottom of gorge thereby killing six soldiers on the spot and leaving 12 others wounded.
On the receipt of information, rescue teams rushed from the nearby areas particularly of Army. After hectic efforts, the injured soldiers and dead bodies were brought out of the gorge and shifted to hospital.
The condition of five injured was stated to be critical when reports last came in while the others were responding to the treatment. The deceased have been identified as Naik Chander Mohan Singh,
Havildar Balbir Singh, Naik Sanjay Singh, all of 6th Gadwal, Pawar Anil Ramesh, Avdesh Singh, both Signalman and Mohd Mushtaq of 17 JAKLI and resident of Thanamandi, Rajouri.
The injured soldiers have been identified as Naik Harinder Singh and Naik Narinder Singh, both of 6th Gadwal, T P Raju and Sewa Krishna of 212 Field Workshop, Mohd Tariq, Rifleman Alam Singh of 6th Gadwal, Lance Naik Rajveer of 9 Jat, Naik Yuvraj of 114 Infantry Brigade, Subedar Binder Singh of 6th Gadwal, Naik Tarlok Singh of 6th Gadwal, Lance Naik C Aruna of 114 Infantry Brigade and Parveen Kumar of JAK Rifles.
