| BJP district unit protest against power cuts | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Nov 24: District Jammu Unit of BJP led by its President Rajesh Gupta, today held massive demonstration at Parade, to register protest against power curtailment in Jammu city and other parts. The party activists were raising slogans demanding regular supply of electricity to the consumers. BJP State President Ashok Khajuria, who also took part in the demonstration, said that 10 to 12 hours daily cut is the gift of mismanagement of the erstwhile Congress-PDP coalition and the National Conference. He said how unfortunate it is that the Prime Minister of India, after inaugurating the Baglihar Project, had assured uninterrupted power supply but the ground reality has remained unchanged. He said these power cuts have not only brought problems to the student community but also crippled the industry. Rajesh Gupta, on this occasion said that the department is charging regular tarrif from the hapless consumers but has no concern to ensure regular supply. He said the BJP will further intensify its struggle against the anti-people decision and warned the concerned department not to test the patience of the consumers and take immediate effective steps so that the consumers are not made to suffer anymore. Shiv Kumar Gupta, Ramesh Sharma, Sanjeev Gupta, Karan Singh, Gulshan Mahajan, Arun Sethi, Prem Gandhotra, Ajay Gupta, Shashi Sapolia and Lalit Sharma were prominent among those who took part in the demonstration. |
