| ‘Massive turn out rejection of separatists’ | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Nov 24: Observing that though it was early to comment at the polling trends, senior BJP leader and the party nominee from Jammu west Assembly constituency, Prof. Chaman Lal Gupta has said that the turn out in first two phases well indicate the clear rejection of the boycott calls of the secessionists and pro-Pak elements in Kashmir, and is also a slap on the face of those who were trying to get elections postponed because of their own weaknesses. He said the heavy turn out of the voters is display of the anger against the poor performance of the Congress-PDP coalition and their allies and on this pattern of voting one can easily predict that the partners of this coalition especially the Congress and its ministers would fall flat in the battle of hustings as the electorates appear to be determined to teach a lesson to those who make false promises, he added. He said that Ghulam Nabi Azad led dispensation was not only incompetent but also had yielded to pressures of the anti-national elements which were very much evident on the issue of Swami Amarnath Ji land row. The role of Jammu ministers in this episode was highly criminal, he observed. Inaugurating the party election office at Talab Tillo and addressing several meetings including at Janipura, Old Rehari, Borhi, Guest House area and other localities, Prof. Gupta was highly critical of the Congress and alleged that chaotic conditions were created and there were no norms of settling issues. In the name of regularizing colonies different yard sticks were adopted and the poor inhabitants of Janipura and other areas are being putting to problems by demanding compensation of the land at very high rates. He also assailed the Azad government for not implementing the recommendations of the Sixth Pay Commission despite loud promises and not regularizing the services of the Adhoc employees and Daily Wagers in spite making assurances repeatedly. The BJP leader alleged that Azad led Government was not only irresponsive but also inhumane. In this regard he pointed out that the salaries of the ministers and legislators were increased from Rs. 12000 PM to over Rs. 43000 PM, but no increase was made in the wages of the workers who are still being paid Rs. 70 per day which they were paid three years back. Prof. Gupta also charged the Congress-National Conference for being responsible for discrimination |
