| Commerce beats Bhargava in inter-college hockey | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Nov 24: Beating Bhargava Degree College Samba 6-3, Government SPMR College of Commerce today made it into the next round of quarterfinals in the inter-college men’s hockey tournament organized by Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) at K K Hakhu Stadium, here. Gurdeep Singh was lethal in his attack on the opponent goal post. He sounded the board for three times to power Commerce College to a resounding victory. Gurdeep’s goals came in 19th, 47th and 50th minute of the match. Harpreet Singh (11th), Jasbir Singh Bali (45th) and Sukhwinder Singh (57th) scored a goal each. From Bhargwa College, Chander Udhay Singh fought well but his lone battle could not yield positive results and the team lost 6-3. All the three goals for Bhargwa College came through the stick of Chander Udhay in the 15th, 23rd and 25th minute of the match. Today’s match was officiated by D Singh, Jagjit Singh and PD Singh. Meanwhile, in another scheduled match, both Degree College Akhnoor and PG Departments of Law and Sciences failed to report resulting into the organizers abandoned the game. Next matches: (Quarterfinals): Degree College Poonch to meet Degree College Kathua while Degree College Udhampur shall play against Government MAM College at 11 am. |
