| JUTA demands rescinding of council resolution | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Nov 26: Jammu University Teachers' Association (JUTA) has unanimously resolved that the position and the hierarchy in the line of the administration of the Director, Quality Assurance and Strategic Planning be immediately withdrawn and the council resolution 67-119, notified by the University of Jammu vide Notification No. 2 of 2008 dated November 17, 2008, be revoked and rescinded. The Quality Assurance and Strategic Planning is not to be above the conveners of the boards, Deans as well as other Administrative bodies like Dean Academic Affairs (DAA), Registrar, Controller of Examinations and the Heads, Directors or any other such equivalent positions, the association pointed out. The center for Quality Assurance and Strategic Planning should be a facilitating body and not an executing body of planning and management, it added. Given the manner, the center has been made to work as a super structure above all the existing bodies of the University against the Kashmir and Jammu Universities Act 1969. The JUTA has demanded that the center to be directed to abolish its functioning forthwith till the complete modalities with regard to the working of the cell is worked out. The members also resolved that the responsibility to be fixed for not routing the draft statute through various bodies of the University resulting in the stark and gross violation of the academic norms and dignity of the teachers. The resolution adopted with a request the Chancellor to rescind the above said council resolution with immediate effect. The members also resolved to march to Raj Bhawan to present the memorandum to the Chancellor in this regard. |
