JAMMU | SEPT 14
While dedicating Pandit martyr’s day as anti-terrorism day Panun Kashmir, a premier organization of displaced Hindus, has called for an effective and well-framed anti-insurgency policy in order to defeat the enemies of peace, communal brotherhood and secularism.
At a symposium in Jammu on Thursday Panun Kashmir called upon the Government of India not to compromise with the ongoing Jehadi war
Stating this chairman Panun Kashmir,Dr Ajay Chrungoo, told a congregation of political leaders and intellectuals here today that “any compromise with militants could jeopardize national security and secular unity of the country.”
Swami Amrita Nand Shankracharya of Sharda Peeth was the chief guest and leaders from BJP,Shiva Sena,Kashmir Solidarity Conference attended the conference.
Dr Chrungoo said, “Terrorism is the new war form of our times. It is not merely a law and order problem. Centre should have the constitutional leverage to intervene anywhere and anytime to crush terrorism. This is an imperative necessity.” He said mere slogan of “zero level tolerance against terrorism’ sounded nothing short of mockery and it needed to be backed up by state commitment so that the war against terrorism was carried to its logical conclusion.
Speakers, including Prof. Hari Om and the Shankracharya emphasized the need for a well-laid policy on fighting terrorism. Others called for “disarming, discrediting and defeating all opinions, political or academic, which rationalize terrorism in the name of injustice or victimhood.”
Panun Kashmir also called for reversal of the genocide of Kashmiri Pandits as “such will reflect the will of the nation for defeating terrorism for all times.”
Meanwhile Jammu Vivhar Manch an organization of displaced community of Kashmiri Pandits also observed 17th of Sept. as Martyrs’ Day and rededicated it as Sankalap Diwas.
Addressing the gathering Ajay Bahrti National General Secretary JKVM reminded the people the circumstances that were created by vested interests before actual killing of the minority community. He further said that selective killing of prominent Kashmiri Pandits leader Shaheed Tika Lal Taploo was aimed at silencing the forceful voices against terrorism.
Meanwhile, others who spoke on the occasion chief guest Ashok Kangan, P. N Mudup and National General Secretary of manch H.L Bhat declared that the year 2006-07 will be dedicated to the memory of Shaheed Taploo and will be celebrated as Tika Lal the Taploo Samriti Varsh.
