| Farooq promises massive employment | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Bhaderwah, Nov 27: Asserting that unemployment problem has assumed alarming dimensions in Jammu and Kashmir, Former Chief Minister and National Conference Patron Dr Farooq Abdullah today assured that if his party is voted to power it will fill up all the posts lying vacant in government sector so as to deal with the menace.
Addressing a largely attended public meeting at Seeri Bazar, here today, Dr Abdullah criticized Congress and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for their unresponsive attitude towards the problem of unemployment in the state.
"Despite tall claims and promises made to the electorate during the previous elections the PDP and Congress failed to frame a comprehensive policy to secure the future of educated un-employed youth by creating adequate employment avenues for them", he said.
"There is lot of courage required for making promises and keeping them", he said while referring to the hollow promises made by the regime over these years. Dr Abdullah said his party has never attempted hoodwinking by making false promises with people and added "NC believes that the problem of unemployment could be solved only by chalking out a comprehensive policy for taping the existing potential in all sectors".
He said that his party, if voted to power, shall deal with the problem with a comprehensive plan and in the first step all the vacant posts will be filled up. "We have chalked out an employment policy for solving the unemployment problem in the state, which will be implemented in letter and spirit when the party comes to power," he added.
The employment packages by his party, he said, would not only be for the educated class but it will also cover the youth having qualification of middle and secondary school, belonging to the far flung areas of the state," he maintained.
Dr Abdullah further assured that he is committed to provide one job to each family in the state. "We are also planning to regularize all the Special Police Officers (SPOs) so as to improve their living condition and strengthen the police force in the state".
NC Patron said that the party after coming to power will re-start the process of recruitment of youth in the Police department by sending the Director General of Police to remote areas as was being done in the previous National Conference government. He said the party will also lower the qualification bar for appointment of constables in Police department and Class IV category to middle pass and not matric as imposed by the erstwhilePDP-Congress government.
Dr. Abdullah also assured that projects like Sawala Kote which were kept withheld during the coalition regime will be re-started and also promised that taking up of second phase of Bhaglihar Hydro Electric Project.
"My party has conceived an agenda for governance as it strongly believes that Good governance is a primary requisite for overall development and said that party will work towards implementing the party's manifesto in letter and spirit.
Dr. Abdullah said attempts are being made by some vested interest political groups to divide the state on communal and regional lines little realizing that the strength of the nation is its secularism. He said, "It is high time that we should isolate such forces who are bent upon to create wedge among communities and regions". |
