| Poet Ahaz Zargar remembered | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, NOV 27: A two day National Level seminar on famous mystic poet of Kashmiri language, Abdul Ahad Zargar was organised today at K.L. Sehgal Hall of J&K Academy of Art, Cultural and Languages Jammu. The seminar was inaugurated by Secretary Education , Mr. G.A. Peer. Speaking on the occasion Mr. Peer said that Sahitiya Academy was performing a tremendous job by organising such seminars as it would help boost the rich ethos of Kashmiri language and culture. Mr. Peer assured that local languages including Kashmiri would be very soon introduced in the curricular of school syllabi. G.A. Peer described Abdul Ahad Zargar as greater luminary of his times. He said that the spiritual touch of the Ghazals of Sufi poet was symbolic in nature and leads a person towards immortality. He recalled the great works of Zargar like "Aka Nandun" which was a masterpiece of art and poetry having no comparison in modern times. The occasion was presided over by Gyanpeth award winner Prof. Abdul Rehmnan Rahi. Who on this occasion said that "we should study the poetry through contents and basics of the language. Farooq Nazki in his address dealt with various aspects of Zargar's poetry and presented the vote of thanks. Dr. Aziz Hajni, convener kashmiri Advisory Board said that Sahitiya Academy will organise a series of programmes on representative mystic poets of Kashmiri language. He thanked the scholars across the country for participating in the seminar. Secretary Cultural Academy, Mr. Zafar Iqbal, Secy. J&K Board of Secondary Education, Dr. Sheikh Bashir Ahmad, Director Radio Kashmir Srinagar, Mr. Rafiq Raz, Assistant Director Sahitiya Academy and other prominent writers and scholars of Urdu and Kashmiri Language were present on the occasion. |
