EARLY TIMES REPORT KATHUA, NOV 27: As many as 66 contestants are now left in fray for the five Assembly constituencies of Kathua district after the withdrawal of candidatures by four candidates today, on the last day of withdrawal of nominations. For Bani Assembly constituency, 11 contestants are left in fray after the withdrawal of candidature by Mr. Bashir Ahmed, an independent candidate. In Basohli Assembly constituency, Mr. Rajinder Singh and Mr. Deputy Lal, both independents, withdrew their candidatures, leaving nine contestants in fray. For Kathua Assembly constituency, after withdrawal of candidature by Mr. Sumeet Majotra, an independent candidate, 20 contestants are now left in fray. In Hiranagar and Billawar Assembly constituencies, no candidate withdrew their candidatures, leaving 11 and 15 candidates in fray, respectively. The five constituencies of the district are going to polls in fifth phase on December 13. |
