| NC rebel joins electoral battle, files papers from Nagrota | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Nov 27: National Conference plagued with rebellion faced revolt in Nagrota constituency when one of its prominent leaders, Balbir Singh Manhas, advocate and seasoned politician jumped into the electoral battle as an independent candidate. Though a number of NC leaders have declared an open revolt against official party nominee, Manhas became the first party rebel to file his nomination papers from Nagrota segment as an independent. The rebel NC leader filed his papers in Sidhra today where large number of people joined him in a huge cavalcade raising slogans ‘Manhas Aage Baro, Hum Tumhhare Saath Hai’. Speaking to his supporters, Manhas said that the people of the constituency are still looking for wells and bholis for potable drinking water even after six years of independence. There is no road connectivity in whole of the constituency and even the subway passage is totally un-constructed, he added and assured that if elected he would ensure equal treatment to all the three blocks of the constituency irrespective of caste, creed and colour. He said that he would work for granting tehsil headquarters status to Nagrota besides opening of Degree College and Munsif court. |
