JKNPP condemns brutal police lathi charge at Karlah, demand probe

JAMMU SEPT-14- Strongly condemning the brutal police lathi charge on innocent people of village Karlah near Kud, the Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party (JKNPP) has demanded inquiry into the matter.
A high power party delegation who visited village Karlah yesterday in connection with the dharna lodged by the agitating people at Kud following a dispute on the construction of public convenience booth on school land by the Patnitop Development Authority, has strongly condemned the police lathi charge causing injuries to large of people including some minor children.
In a hand out Jagdev Singh Coordination Secretary said that situation was diffused following an agreement reached between PDA and the agitating people in presence of JKNPP leaders and Deputy Commissioner Udhampur.
It was decided that the public convenience booth being constructed by the PDA would also be used by the school children of Karlah free of cost, PDA would level the school ground and construct Brest walls to protect the ground, besides construction of old path for use by local population as also cover the nallah.
It was also decided that Idgah land and Jagrata ground would be shared by both the communities on 50: 50 basis and will be kept open for both Id-prayers and Jagrata functions.
The party has also expressed its grave concern over the criminal negligence by the administration which they alleged have failed to access the damages caused to the standing crops by the recent rains and houses in the entire area of Chenani, Kud, Sanasar, Karlah and adjoining areas. The party has demanded that a revenue team should be deputed to entire hilly areas to access the damages so that proper compensation is paid to the affected families.
The delegation that visited Karlah included Ms.Anita Thakur, Daljit Singh, Jagdev Singh, Sewa Singh Bali, Mool Raj, Azad Ahmed, Mohammed Saleem Sheikh and Raghubir Singh.
