EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, NOV 28: Chief Secretary, Mr. S. S. Kapur today chaired 44th meeting of Forest Advisory Committee (Forest Conservation Act). The meeting was attended by Financial Commissioner, Planning and Development, Mr. S. L. Bhat, Principal Secretary Revenue, Mr. Lokesh Jha, Principal Secretary, Forest, Mr. Iqbal Khanday, Principal Secretary, Law, Mr. A. H. Kochak, Director General Finance, Mr. Ravi Mangotra, Principal Conservator of Forests, Chief Wildlife Warden, Director Soil Conservation and leading environmentalists of Jammu and Kashmir. The meeting cleared the agenda points purforth before the committee after holding a detailed discussion on these. The members of the committee put forth their views for effective implementation of the Forest Conservation Act. Suggesting that while enforcing the Act the preservation of forests and aforestation of degraded forest be kept in view. Stressing on the preservation of the green gold of the state, the chief secretary said that we should endeavor to work for the effective conservation of the environment by resorting to large scale plantation of trees across the state. |
