JAMMU SEPT-14- Security Forces today gunned down commander of LeT outfit of Basantgarh area, involved in killing of 13 members of minority community in Laloon Gala of Basantngrah, a militant of HM outfit was apprehended at Kiyar Doda while a hide out was busted and huge quantity of arms and ammunition including five Kg Improvised Explosive Device (IED) was recovered in Poonch area .One SPO and a VDC Member also lost their lives in the Basantgarh encounter.Giving details at a press conference here today the Inspector General of Police Jammu Range, Dr Sheesh Paul Vaid said that acting on a tip off, a joint team of Army and Police this morning launched a search operation in Punara in Udhampur. An encounter took place in which one commander of LeT outfit of Basantgarh area identified as Aizaz Ahmed son of Mohammed Latif of Lodhara Gund Udhampur was eliminated.The IGP said the slain militant who had joined the militancy on August 22 , 2004 was active in the area since then and was involved in case FIR NO 12/06 US/S 302/364/120-RPC ,7/25/26/27 Arms ACT at police Station Basantgarh for taking active part in the massacre of 13 members of minority community at Laloon Gala area of Basantgarh. He said another FIR was lodged against the slain militant under FIR NO 18/06 u/s 395/364/124-A RPC,7/25/26/27, 3/25 Arms Act for looting six .303 rifles along with 287 rounds from the VDC members of Punara .He said the slain militant had also injured one constable and a FIR to this effect was also registered. He said in an encounter he managed to escape from the spot leaving behind one AK magazine and eight live rounds, which were later on recovered by the Police, the IG added.The reports said in the Basantgarh encounter one SPO and a VDC member also lost their lives.Acting on specific information about the presence of a militant in Kiyar area of Chatroo in Doda district , a joint operation was launched by the Police party and troops of 13 RR yesterday. During search at about 1730 hours one person was found in suspicious circumstances and tried to flee from the spot. He was chased, and over powered and arrested on the spot, the reports said. The identity of the arrested militant has been established as Mohammed Shafi son of Showkat Jamal of Yurdu Marwah and belonged to HM outfit. One 303 rifle along with one magazine and four rounds were recovered from his possession.. Search operation was still going on and more successes were expected, the sources said. Reports from Poonch district said that security forces today busted a militant hideout and recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition. On a specific information, a CID party led by DSP Dev Raj and 10 Sikh regiment launched a search operation in Magnar area of Poonch district and during search, the party recovered five kg of RDX, two AK47 Rifles, one AK-56 Rifle,13 magazines ,82 rounds of ammunition, 17 grenades one Chinese pistol, seven pistol rounds, four Chinese grenades, three grenade pouches, 64 Pika rounds, one wireless set , 64 AK rounds and four pencil cells. Search operation was continuing when the reports last came in. The security forces also recovered a cache from a hideout in Maglote area of Kalakote today. The recoveries included 30 hand grenades, 32 explosive pockets of 150 gm each, eight metre RDX wire and 20 detonators.
