| Agri workshop being held next month | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, NOV 30: Principal Secretary to Government, Agriculture Production Department, Mrs. Sonali Kumar today reviewed the outcome of the Indo-US workshop-cum-Training on Post Harvest Technology, Cold Chain Management and Food Safety issues recently organized at Noida (UP). The workshop was organized by the Amity University, Noida in collaboration with Global Agri Systems and sponsored by the Indo-US Science and Technology and co-sponsored by the Ministry of Food Processing Industry, Government of India. The participants from all states of the country especially from Horticulture Department and executives from corporate houses related to Handling of Agriculture/Horticulture Produce attended the workshop. The Training Programme was very informative and educative as presentations were made by the Renowned Scientists (Resource Persons) from United States of America especially Dr. Adel A. Kedar U. S. Principal Investigator, Professor Emeritus of Post harvest Physiology, California (U.S). Dr. Elizabeth Mitcham specialist and Pomologist University of California and other consultants of Cold Chain Management and Post Harvest Technology, besides the Scientists from CFTRI Mysore, IIT Kanpur, U.S. Grains Counsel, Amity Science Technology and Innovation Foundation (ASTIF). Sonali Kumar has asked the organizers to conduct the said workshop in Jammu on 26th and 27th of December to disseminate the latest techniques available in post Harvest Technology to the senior field functionaries of Agriculture /Horticulture Department. She said that similar workshop shall also be conducted at Srinagar. She said that the participated officers will be acting as resource persons to train the field functionaries/fruit growers to save the post harvest losses which at present varies from 25-30%. |
