| When Stars Tumble | | | Pt. R.C Awasthi
A scientific thinker, in a recent article appearing in a newspaper wrote,” Elusive Higgs-Boson particle popularly called the God-particle is the focus of the world's largest scientific experiment. If identified, it would help explain why some subatomic particles are heavy and have a greater mass than others”. No doubt! Quantum physics has made great attempts to unravel the super cosmic creation. Nevertheless, it may not be in a position to reveal more than a tip of the iceberg. As a matter of fact our Hindu tradition believes that the entire cosmos is a combination of two subtle powers called Shiva and Shakti. They are deeply interrelated. Shiva is regarded as,“Mahakaal ” and Shakti as “Maya ”. Sants have referred this force as ‘Kaal’ or ‘Kaal Niranjan’ and ‘Maya’. Shiva represents tangible matter and Shakti, intangible energy and qualitative aspect associated with matter. Scientists also regard mass and energy as inter-convertible. The Higgs-Boson particle is like Shiva and the charge; spin, mass energy and such parameters are like Shakti. Looking for this particle is like looking for Shiva in Shakti finding the cause of the particle's mass when actually they are creations of the supreme entity causing flutter by uttering five legendary syllabi. The entire experiment is analogous to finding the quantitative basis of a quality. Like trying to find a particle that makes beauty beautiful. Is it possible to find a tangible quantitative parameter for a very fundamental attribute? Beauty is because there is an observer. The observer is also as much a manifestation as the observed entity as the act of observation. Nothing like‘ Kaal and Maya’ could exist ab-initio. Even if the Big Bang theory were to be ratified, the bigger issue of who engineered its initiation still remains. And if space was also a derivative of the Big Bang, then in what space did this phenomenal expansion take place? Every objective existence is entirely a function of the observer. So any phenomenon is inexorably connected with the phenomenon. Subject and object are inter-dependent on cognition.. The supreme knowledge unification or creation of Shiva and Shakti cannot be studied or experimentally verified. It has to be experienced. One has rise above the bondages. The fundamental truth is that the observer in any experiment is a constituent of it. You cannot know an ocean while standing on its coast. You may form some vague idea after jumping deep into its depths. The process aimed to know it, invariably warrants you to merge yourself into it like a drop of water. The stream of Sants, therefore believe that identification and ratification of observer-observed dichotomy is nothing but an apparition under the hypnotic spell of “Maya”. Meaning that the knower-knowledge distinction is no longer there. Scientists may keep on trying to satiate their unquenchable desire for tangibility but the end point of this endeavor will only yield ambiguity. An Urdu Poet has beautifully described such a scenario: -
Sitarey toot jayenge, zameen par zalzala hoga Na hoga baap bete ka, na beta baap ka hoga; Utar jaunga jab nichey to sainsdaan kharha hoga (Stars will start tumbling. Earthquakes will cause wide-ranging devastations. There will be no love lost between a son and a father or father and a son and while alighting on planet earth in such a scenario, I will be confronted by utterly confused scientists trying to ascertain the cause behind the tumbling of stars and planets of galaxies with the help of their instruments)
The greatest quality of “Maya” is that it appears uniform to one and all. It creates a uniform and consistent mirage and coerces the “Indris” (nine senses through nine gates of body) through ‘Manas’ (universal mind force) into limiting its beliefs to materialistic appearances. These nine senses when commanded through various methods of meditation lead to tenth gate of subtle worlds (Suksham Lokas) with great difficulty. Eleventh gate leading to the Supreme is deliberately blocked by it with the abetment of its counterpart.. The process goes on and on under a scheme and word of the Supreme creator.. Physics didn't stop looking once Einstein proclaimed and proved the inter-convertibility of mass and energy. Quantum physics opened a Pandora's box and ridiculed logic and the basis of scientific deduction. Quantum theory is virtually the science of the improbable, scientific logic leading to the illogical. It has come up with bizarre predictions. We have tried to understand nature through a narrow prism and force its entirety into a limited frame of comprehension. Our Shastras have, on umpteen occasions declared. “Jay-jay nittyam, te-te anittyam”. (Whatever appears to be stationery is transient) Experience never needed any experiment since it cannot be reproduced at will and under specified conditions. Probably unraveling the entire mystery of Creation needs not a Large Hadron Collider but a large perception assimilator, we call Sadguru. You can know the truth via ‘experience’ (Anubhuti) not scientific ‘experiments’. All experiments may always lack conviction since despite all this one may not possess any Anubhuti (Practical self-experience) to support the claim. The fact would always remain that you were groping in the dark and that you know nothing for guaranteed. Mind and intelligence possess limited capabilities. The Supreme Being is beyond the realm of intellect; it cannot be gauged with arrogance of the scientists... They have the ability to know a thing as it appears, not to know it.. Our mind and intellect are limited, and anything produced by our mind and intellect or experiment must also be limited. Hence we cannot determine the ultimate because it is beyond the jurisdiction of these instruments and may, therefore possibly be a concoction. Therefore, we should not attempt to manufacture reality. As “Jivatmas” (souls conditioned in the bondages of mind), we have finite capabilities. It is beyond the material intellect to determine the infinite. The absolute truth always exists. We cannot approach it through the inductive process. HE is the cause of all causes; He is self-effulgent and self-luminous. Probably, failure to demonstrate the Higgs-Boson particle might therefore, impel us to turn inwards and seek to redefine scientific approach through spiritualism. The Higgs-Boson particle is just a logical extrapolation of our limited understanding. It might just end up as being the non-existent proof of a non-existent theory. |
