| Students’ educational tour concludes | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Nov 29: The fortnight long education tour of 40 boys and girls to Delhi, Agra and Dehradun organized by the Army under its Operation Sadhavana concluded today. The tour was organized by the Army in pursuit of its social initiative of integrating the youth of remote villages of the Valley and border districts of Kashmir with mainstream India. The children had exhilarating ride on the Delhi Metro and a very memorable visit to Rashtrapati Bhawan where the President of India interacted and shared her views with them. The children also visited Taj Mahal and the Indian Military Academy, Dehradun before finally reaching Jammu here today. At Jammu, the GOC Tiger Division, Maj Gen DL Chowdhary, met all the children at the Usman Officers’ Institute and informally interacted with them at length inquiring about their experiences during the visit and the memories that they would carry back to their homes and villages. He also motivated them to study and play hard, and emphasized how they could join the Armed Forces, be respectable members of the society and serve the nation. He also gave gift to each students and told them that he hoped that the visit would go a long way in expanding their horizons and help in bringing peace and harmony to the Valley. |
