Hospitality & Protocol Deptt starts 1 month skill upgradation training for staff

JAMMU, May 5: The Department of Hospitality and Protocol, J&K, Jammu has started a month-long training programme to upgrade skills of the staff members and equip them with the essential requirements in providing best services to the Guests.
The training forms part of the endeavors initiated by the Commissioner/Secretary to the Government, Hospitality and Protocol Department, J&K.
The training programme will cover different aspects viz. Liasioning, Personal and Food hygiene, safety, Hospitality etiquettes and courtesies etc.
First event in this series was a programme on "First Aid Training" organized in collaboration with Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region, in which all staff members of the department participated and were sensitized on the basic fundamentals of first aid. The training was organized with an objective to equip the staff with the basic techniques of providing first aid in the event of any untoward situation/accident.
The training session was conducted by Dr. Shelly Mahajan, M.D Anaesthesia, Medical Officer Indian Red Cross Society. She explained about the basic characteristics of a first aider and discussed his role in the scenarios like injury due to an accident, heart attack, snake bite, heat stroke, electrocution, transportation of an injured patient etc. She also emphasized on the do's and don'ts of the first aid on an unconscious patient as well.
Further, Demonstration of Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) was conducted, that was also practiced by the staff members. She also sensitized the staff members about the Food Hygiene and practices associated with it.
The whole event was conducted under the overall guidance of Ansuya Jamwal, Joint Director, Hospitality and Protocol, Jammu.
In her address, the Joint Director highlighted the significance of such a sensitization programme for the staff members who cater to various VVIP/VIP guests on a routine basis. She also emphasized that the purpose of such training was to preserve life by increasing the quality and quantity of Responsible First Aiders.
Assistant Director, Convention Centre, Jammu, Aamir Choudhary; Assistant Director, H&P, Jammu, Madhur Anand; Assistant Director, H&P, Jammu Puneet Kour and other officials were also present on the occasion.
