Chaman lashes out at Farooq for Mumbai statement
11/30/2008 11:03:04 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Nov 30: Expressing surprise over the statement of former Chief Minister and National Conference patron, Dr. Farooq Abdullah, absolving Pakistan for terror attack at Mumbai, former union minister and senior BJP leader Prof Chaman Lal Gupta observed that authorities in that country stand answerable for the crime against humanity as the highly trained and motivated ultras along with most modern weaponry and subversive material were launched from the soil of Pakistan and most of them were Pakistanis. He termed the statement of Dr. Farooq as quite significant and asserted that men being named behind the crime against humanity have been staying in Pakistan and have not been handed over to India although several of them have been globally denounced.
Inaugurating his election office at Bakshi Nagar and other places in the Jammu West Assembly Constituency, Prof. Gupta said that mere resignation of the Home Minister, Shiv Raj Patil, would not suffice as the entire ruling leadership and their mysteriously soft policies were responsible for the rise of terrorism in the country.
About Jammu Kashmir, he pointed out that over seventy thousand militancy related cases have been registered in the state during the past years in which more than thirty thousand accused were hauled up but almost all of them were let off and there was not a single case in which any of the terrorist including Pakistanis and other foreigners, were provided exemplary punishment. In many cases the ultras were given Government jobs and several of the secessionist leaders are enjoying pensions and other facilities at the cost of the poor exchequer. Even the POTA cases were shelved and the law was scrapped after the Congress led UPA Government came in power at the Centre. Prof. Gupta also visited the Kushat Ashram and sought their votes with the promise that all out efforts would be made to improve the conditions of the Ashram.
