| Dr Bhasin takes over as Chairman of JAKASI | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, May 8: Professor of Surgery from Government Medical College Jammu, Dr. Sanjay Kumar Bhasin, who was recently elected as sixth Chairman of the surgical body has taken over from Prof. Fazl Q Parry for a two year tenure.
After taking over, he took the meeting of newly Executive Committee, wherein; Dr. Zaffar Saleem Khanday (Associate Professor from GMC Srinagar) and Dr. Shams-ul-Bari (Associate Professor from SKIMS-MC) were nominated unanimously as Honorary Secretary and Treasurer respectively.
Prof. Iqbal Saleem took over as Vice-Chairman of the association.
After extensive deliberations it was decided to hold annual conference of the chapter (JAKASICON-2022) in physical mode on September 23-24, 2022 at GMC Srinagar wherein nationally and internationally acclaimed faculty from Association of Surgeons of India from all across the country shall take part in academic feast.
Similarly, Mid Term Conference was allotted to GMC Anantnag to be held in mid July this year.
The academic calendar for 2022-23 was also finalised wherein surgical and academic outreach programmes shall be conducted at District and Sub-district hospital levels in the larger interest of patient care and raising surgical and academic standards at grass root levels. Furthermore, it was also decided JAKASI shall come up with a surgical newsletter initially followed by a surgical journal in due course of time.
Prof. Sanjay Bhasin in his remarks said that at present the JK Chapter of ASI is having more than 350 surgeons from across J&K as its members and the younger lot shall be encouraged to become members of this prestigious surgico-academic body in the larger interest of patient care and for raising teaching-training standards. |
