| Six hours poll boycott in Langate | | Killing of woman | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Langate, Nov 30: Till noon, it was a complete boycott at polling station Chotipora, Langate and the six votes out of 572 that were cast by then were polled by agents of different political parties. According to PBI reporter who visited the polling booth at around 12.00 noon, there was complete absence of voters around the polling booth with the electoral staff yawning and killing time by chatting with fellow security personnel. There was no sign of people will approach the booth for casting their votes. The reason: "How can we think of casting votes to select one who will favour India next six years in killing innocent Kashmiris. My daughter was shot dead in broad day light by soldiers of 21RR on 25 August and how on earth can I think to forget her throughout my life," Taja Begum, mother of Fehmeeda, who was allegedly killed by 21RR soldiers. Taja told PBI reporter that her daughter, Fehmeeda wife of Fayaz Ahmad Sheikh was sitting on the upper floor of the house when troops of 21RR thrashed a youth Firdous Ahmad Sheikh who was out to offer prayers. Fehmeeda came out of the house to save Firdous but as soon as she reached near Firdous, a soldier shot her in the head and she bled to death on the spot on 25th August. Fehmeeda was married just two years earlier and had a son Sheikh Musa. Locals scattered around the road in groups told PBI reporter that they will not vote even if it costs them their lives. "It is not a matter of roads, water and electricity; it is the question of the blood of more than one Lakh martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the liberation of their motherland. If everyone in Kashmir goes hysteric after seeing the filtered coverage of the elections, even then we will not betray our national cause of freedom," Amin, a local youth told reporters. "My whole frame shakes in disbelief to see people casting their votes and laughing while in long queues as if they are free. Many politicians came to me but I will never vote till it is vote for the everlasting solution for Kashmir issue," Abdul Rahman Sheikh, father of late Fehmeeda told PBI. |
