| Football: International, Jammu United win ties | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Nov 30: Jammu United and International Club registered wins on the opening day of the Jammu Senior Open Football Championship organized by the Jammu wing of Jammu and Kashmir Football Association (JKFA) at Mini Stadium, Parade, here today. In the first match, International Club defeated NGR Club by two goals to one. Kamal and Sunil were the scorers who netted the ball in 10th and 62nd minute for International Club while Abhimanyu scored for Jammu United in the 28th minute. Jammu United trounced Jammu Sports 3-2. Sonu Kumar and Sanjay Khajuria were scorers from Jammu United while Vivian and Davian scored for Jammu Sports. In all, 14 teams representing different football clubs of Jammu are taking part in this week-long competition. “Since there was hardly any event in Jammu, the Association is organizing tournament as warm-up competition for the local clubs before the State Football Championship scheduled to organized at Jammu from December 15 by JKFA,” vice-president of JKFA Jammu wing, Dr Nirmolak Singh told SAN. Next matches: New Bharat to meet Churchill Brothers at 1.30 pm while Vijay Club to face Kartar Club Samba at 3 pm tomorrow. |
