DC Udhampur presides over weekly Block Diwas meeting

UDHAMPUR, May 11: To take governance to the doorsteps of people and to speed up the grievances redressal mechanism at all levels, Deputy Commissioner, Udhampur Krittika Jyotsna conducted a weekly block Diwas meeting here at Conference Hall DC Office Complex Udhampur and listened to scores of public issues and demands.
Divisional Forest Officer; Shaveta Jandial; Assistant Commissioner Development, Dharam Paul; Block development Officer, Amit Kumar; Tehsildar, Amit Verma and other District officers besides PRIs of different Panchayats participated in the weekly Block Diwas program.
Sarpanches and Panches hailing from different Panchayats of Block Udhampur projected several demands and issues of public importance. They demanded Widening of Sambal Chakhar road, Repair of hand pumps, meeting paucity of drinking water supply, Installation of power transformers to improve voltage, Black topping of link roads, Filling of Potholes and repair of Round Domail to Battal Road, Construction of boundary wall at GHSS Battal, release of funds for construction of Panchayat Ghars, Land Compensation, Installation of high mast lights and marking of zebra crossing on Highway, Construction of flyover, Opening of Dispensary, Maintenance of Kashirah road, improvement of drainage in Kashirah, establishment of Veterinary Centre at Kotli Bala, early completion of filter plant, provision of electric poles and transformers, posting of doctor in PHC Mansar etc.
Responding to the demands, the DC assured PRIs that all their genuine issues would be addressed in a time bound manner. She directed the officers to work in coordination for equitable development of all Panchayats in the district.
The DC urged the PRIs to start the estimation process of development works in their respective Blocks/panchayats with the help of BDOs for meeting the targets set under the current annual Plan.
The DC also sought feedback from PRIs about the ongoing developmental works. Many grievances were redressed on the spot by intervention /directions to officers of concerned departments. The DC asked the officers to note down the demands and redress them on priority basis.
