JAMMU, May 12: All the eight Deaf & Dumb Students of the School Hearing Handicapped, Shaheedi Chowk, Jammu have got distinction in the Middle Class result declared by the Board of School Education. This is for the first time that all the students passed the Middle Class examination with distinction which is a very creditable achievement of the School. It is run by a noted NGO, J&K Samaj Kalyan Kendra, Jammu (SKK) which has on its Governing Body some of top ranking former civil servants, members of the civil society and leading businessmen of Jammu.
Sudha Choudhary topped the School by securing 185 marks out of 200 with 9.6 Cumulative Grade Point followed by Koustab Singh with 9.4 CGP and 179 marks. Sudha has been recommended for financial assistance for studies of a foreign NGO.
The President of the SKK, K B Jandial and members of Governing Body have commended the efforts of the Divyang students in excelling in the Board Exam despite being hearing and speech handicapped. They have also hailed the effort of the Principal, teaching staff and the parents without whose support they would not have achieved this excellence.
The NGO annually presents cash awards to the School toppers of the Board exams besides winners of the medals in national sports events. It has also created a Fund to encourage the meritorious alumni for higher studies by reimbursing 50% of their semesters. Two girls have passed BCA and another one is completing MCA.
