| J&K consolidate position in U-16 Cricket | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Dec 1: With team’s total reaching 275 for seven at the end of day one, J&K seem to be better placed against Haryana in the three-day North Zone Under-16 (Vijay Merchant) cricket tournament started today at GGM Science College Hostel ground, here today. Basit Mohammad (57) and all rounder Soumay Jain (not out 56, 8x4) were stars of the day with both hitting half centuries to bring the team to a confident position. Earlier, Haryana won the toss and opted to field. Batting second, J&K made 275 for seven in 98 overs. Leggie Roshan Saini was most successful bowler from Haryana, who claimed four wickets for 67 runs in 33 overs. To boost the morale of young cricketers, chairman of the J&K Cricket Association, Mehboob Iqbal and general secretary, Salim Khan paid a visit to the ground and had introduction with both the teams during lunch break.
