J&K boys trounce Haryana to enter quarters
31st Sub-junior National Volleyball Championships

JAMMU, Dec 1: Hosts Jammu and Kashmir trounced Haryana 3-1 to make it into the quarterfinals of the 31st Sub-junior National Volleyball Championships underway at MA Stadium, here today.
Losing first set to Haryana, the aggressive side of J&K fired from all cylinders in rest of the game to turn the tables making it a 3-1 victory. The score: 18-25, 25-16, 25-16, 25-21.
J&K sub-junior spikers have qualified for the knock-out stages for the second time. Last time state team had reached the quarterfinals in sub-junior national competitions was three years back in 2005.
Now, in the quarterfinals, to be played tomorrow, J&K shall meet the defending champions, Tamil Nadu at 10 am.
Other teams reaching the last eight stages in boys section are Karnataka, Punjab, Kerela, Manipur, Andhra Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh.
Similarly, in girls section, West Bengal, Maharashtra, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Tamilnadu, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Karnataka have qualified for the quarterfinals.
The quarterfinals have been scheduled for morning session while the semi-finals shall be played in the post lunch session.
