| Romesh Gupta joins election fray from Bishnah | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Dec 1: Prominent social worker and political activist Romesh Gupta has announced his decision to contest as an Independent candidate from Bishnah assembly constituency. Talking to media persons here today, Romesh Gupta said that he has been working for the welfare of common masses of the area for the last more than three decades and has been associated with the ‘Cooperative Movement’ for last about 20 years. He said that for past more than 60 years, our politicians have been promising justice for Jammu region but nothing concrete has been done so far. He said that this inertia among our politicians and people’s insistence have forced him to contest as an Independent candidate from Bishnah constituency. Romesh Gupta said, “I will work for the overall development of Bishnah constituency with full honesty, integrity and dedication. He said that he has been trying his best to ameliorate the lot of suffering humanity and is committed for the solution of individual as well as collective problems of people irrespective of caste and religion. He said that special attention will be given towards the problems of poor and down trodden masses including border migrants, OBCs/SCs/STs, poor workers, farmers, women and unemployed youth Romesh Gupta said that politicians who represented Bishnah constituency for last 60 years just did nothing for the common masses and pocketed developmental funds in collusion with the corrupt officials. He said that when these politicians were elected to power, they had nothing but after entering the assembly they constructed huge mansions and built business empires. Gupta appealed the masses to support him and promised to make Bishnah a model constituency and Bishnah and Arnia towns, model towns. |
