Workshop on "Training of the Trainers" organized by JKPCC

JAMMU, May 14: A one day workshop on "Training of the Trainers" was today organized by Jammu & Kashmir Pollution Control Committee here at Forest Information Centre, Bikram Chowk to ensure effective implementation of prescribed guidelines for environmental management of dairy farms and Gaushala operators envisaging scientific disposal of cattle dung and other dairy waste and registration of all operating dairy farm/ gaushala units.
Workshop was organized under guidance and supervision of Member Secretary, JKPCC, K. Ramesh Kumar and Regional Director, JKPCC, Jammu, Sat Paul and was attended by all concerned implementing agencies from Jammu and Kashmir including Divisional Officers, J&K PCC.
Dr. Neelu Gera, Chairperson, J&K Pollution Control Committee, appreciated Pollution Control Committee officials for working in coordination with implementing authorities and concerned stakeholders to ensure compliance of the guidelines in consonance with directions of the NGT.
She asked for a collaborative approach of concerned departments, viz., local bodies/corporations| PCC towards enforcement of provisions laid for dairy farms and gaushalas in letter and spirit.
The Environmental Engineer, JKPCC, J. N. Sharma briefed about the objective of the training workshop.
Sat Paul, Regional Director, JKPCC Jammu deliberated upon the latest NGT directions, to be followed by concerned stakeholders in a time bound manner.
Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Director, ULB Jammu informed that ULB Jammu has also started registration process for dairy farms and gaushalas in compliance to the environmental norms.
Tilak Raj, Deputy CEO, J&K KVIB, Jammu Division gave a detailed presentation regarding different schemes available with KVIB for Dairy Farms.
Altaf Ali Syed, Chief Animal Husbandry Officer, Jammu Division deliberated upon the role of Animal Husbandry Department in establishment of dairy farm units.
A detailed presentation was made by Anuradha, Scientist, JKPCC, Jammu regarding CPCB Guidelines for Environmental Management of Dairy Farms and Gaushalas, while briefing about best available feasible technologies available for dairy waste management, that may be adopted by concerned stakeholders.
Neeraj Upadhaya, Team Leader, SWM. JMC briefed the gathering about the status of registration of dairy farms and Gaushalas in Jammu city and steps being taken by JMC to ensure speedy registration of such units.
Neelu Sharma, Principal Scientific Officer, JKPCC presented vote of thanks to all the participants and organizers.
