Shopian, Dec 1: Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti today demanded a speedy judicial probe and a stern action against the security forces personnel involved in the custodial killing of an innocent youth Ghulam Hassan Malla (35) at Chotipora-Manihal in Shopian.
Addressing a road show organized by the PDP, Mufti said that such reprehensible acts can further vitiate the atmosphere. Terming the incident as most unfortunate and uncalled for she observed that in a democratic set-up such gruesome and barbaric acts can not be tolerated at any cost. "These incidents vindicate our stand of troop reduction from civilian areas. The presence of army in civilian areas, where the situation has changed to normal, does not become a source of irritation for the masses but give birth to such unwanted acts of human rights violations as well," Mufti remarked.
She expressed her solidarity with the bereaved family and demanded immediate relief and the benefits under SRO-43 for the affected family. |
