| Promotions to Doctors in offing to strengthen all health discipline: Mangat | | | Srinagar, September 15 – Immediate after change over as Chief Minister by Mr. Gh. Nabi Azad, special thrust has been given to equip health and medical sector with latest infrastructural facilities and man power to ensure smooth functioning of Health Institutions for general public benefits. This was stated by the minister for Health and Medical Education Mr. Mangat Ram Sharma while giving details of steps the government has taken to improve the functioning of duo Medical Colleges of Jammu and Srinagar and strengthen the entire Heath and medical system in the state. Mr. Sharma said the government has decided that lecturers, Assistant Professors and Associate Professors who have requisite qualification, experience and fulfills all other eligibilities in particular discipline will be promoted under the prescribed norms while others who are highly deserving for their qualification and experience in various disciplines but are yet to complete eligibility criteria so for as extent of service rendered tenure is concerned would be given charge of higher positions where ever necessary in the public interest, to make all health units functional and headed by specialist which are presently purely maned and headless in some cases. Contractual appointments against various vacant posts of Lecturers and other super specialties will also be made till such vacancies are filled up under rules. He said government has decided to promote nine Associate Professors as professors, eight Assistant Professors as Associate Professors and five Lecturers as Assistant Professors in different departments in Jammu Medical College. Similarly in GMC Srinagar nine Associate Professors are being promoted as Professors, 17 Assistant Professors as Associate Professors and 20 Lecturers as Assistant Professors against clear vacancies available in various disciplines As regard filling up the vacant post of para medical staff in various district of the state, a number of posts referred to different recruiting agencies and accordingly till date 74 candidates including 3 drivers on contractual basis have been selected in various trades like Lab Assistants, X-ray Assistants, Pharmacists, Dental Assistants and FMPHW. Due care has been taken to accommodate the deserving candidates belonging to reserve categories during the selection process. The Minister said that efforts are on to make the department fully equipped so that people of the state get every specialized treatment in the state. Mr. Sharma further said that government has also decided that the selection of candidates for undergoing para medical training courses in AMT School Jammu/Srinagar would be made by the committee constituted for the purpose strictly on merit of 10+2 with Science subject by giving due representation to each district in accordance with population, reservation criteria under rules shall also be strictly adhered to in the selection process. |
