JAMMU, Dec 1: A week-long celebrations to commemorate the birth anniversary of late Vidya Ratan Kharia, a well-known artist of the state and a reknowned sculptor, started at Viraj Kala Kendra here today.
On the first day, an artist workshop for students of IMFA and a poster competition were held. About one hundred students in senior and sub senior groups participated in this poster competition on subject of AIDS, to mark AIDS Day. Different schools like DTM Convent School, Ratnal (Bishnah), SD Tarapuri Public High School, Govt Boys Hr. Sec. School Gandhi Nagar, DBN Vidya Mandir, Shiksha Niketan Schools, Gandhi Nagar and Jeewan Nagar, JK Public School Panjtirthi etc. participated in this competition.
Dr Kanta, Dy Director Health Deptt. was the chief guest on this occasion, ID Soni, Commissioner BS&G, JK State presided over the function. The formation was attended by Sarla Kohli, Sunita Sagotra, Bisambar Mehta, Suresh Sharma, S. Darshan Singh, SC Rikhi, gen. secy. retd. officer’s forum and among others. |
