MVD organises road safety awareness program at Bakori
5/20/2022 11:15:31 PM
Early Times Report
RAJOURI, May 20: To educate the public about golden rules of traffic, the Motor Vehicle Department Rajouri today organised a road safety awareness program here at Bus stand Bakori.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Koteranka, Surinder Mohan Sharma was the chief guest. Among the others, Tehsildar and concerned SHO were also present on the occasion.
During the program, the people were made aware about the road safety measures like putting on seat belts, avoiding overtaking, stopping use of mobile phones while driving, heeding to red signals and shunning unnecessary honking.
While speaking on the occasion, the ARTO said the common traffic violations such as overspeeding, jumping traffic signals, drunken driving, unnecessary honking, violations of designated traffic zones, not wearing seat belts, riding without helmets, modification of two-wheelers and the use of mobile phones while driving, among others are main cause of mishaps. He urged the drivers to be mindful of duties and responsibilities while driving and having self restraint in speeding limits is a way forward towards changing driving behaviours.
Addressing the event, the ADC sensitized the drivers about motor vehicle norms and urged them to follow all traffic rules to ensure their safety as well as the safety of the others.
While underlining the need to follow golden traffic norms to avoid road accidents, he said that the traffic violation leads to road accidents and kill hundreds of people on a daily basis.
He further said that the adherence to laws can avert most of the road accidents besides making commutation hassle-free.
