Babu vows to strengthen sports sector
Vakil hails peace initiatives of PM and UPA chairperson

Srinagar, September 15 – Minister of state for Youth Services and Sports Mr Babu Singh has said that his endeavour would be to strengthen the sports sector in the state to provide ample opportunity to young sports men and women excel and bring laurels to the state.
He was addressing a function at Dangiwacha, Rafiabad after distributing sports kits among 47 sports teams of Rafiabad today. He said a number of steps have already been taken in the direction and various are in offing.
Mr. Singh said that government is giving due attention to the affairs of the youth and making all out efforts to boost the sports activities adding that sports fields have been constructed at a number of places during last three years.
He said that the State Sports Council is being reconstituted so as to make it more youth-friendly and work in a systematic and more viable manner. He said that the sports quota for recruitment purposes would be fully utilized to encourage the sports personnel.
Speaking on the occasion senior Vice President of JKPCC and MLC Mr. Abdul Gani Vakil said that the youth have a very responsible role in overall development of a nation. He said that he has released Rs. 2 lakh out of his constituency development fund for purchase of sports goods and kits for various clubs of district Baramulla.
Mr. Vakil while referring to the proposed Manmohan-Musharraf talks said that the Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh and UPA Chairperson Mrs. Sonia Gandhi have made sincere efforts to restore peace and normalcy in the state and initiated dialogue process with Pakistan which have yielded satisfactory results. He hoped that the Havana talks would help to foster friendly relations between two neighbouring countries restore lasting peace.
