Early Times Report
JAMMU, May 21: Though the peoples are advised not to venture out between 2pm and 5pm as the temperature is arising at an alarming speed, the police personnel who control the traffic under the blazing sun have no escape from the scorching heat. "Though many junctions have traffic booths but they provide limited cover because most of our duties are out on the roads, traffic police personnel's have to bear the hot sun while discharging their duties," said sh Neeraj Paddyar DySP traffic city Jammu. Raj Pal Singh, Addl SP Traffic City Jammu says, "Traffic policemen have to stand in the heat to regulate/monitor the traffic, they have been advised to stand in the shade, wherever and whenever possible, to avoid heatstroke." "At some chowks/junctions, Traffic cops have to spend almost the entire time on the roads For example, at Indira chowk, Satwari, Bikram Chowk, Dogra Chowk, Vigilance rotary, Janipur, Ambphalla etc, where traffic comes from different directions, if Cops are not regulating traffic, it may lead to heavy congestion/jamming/accidents, etc" said Dr Koshal Sharma JKPS, SSP traffic police city Jammu. The traffic police battling heat while manning vehicle flow on city roads of Jammu are now breathing a sigh of relief, The traffic department has decided to supply cool drinking mineral water to the traffic policemen during the day time.
