Massive Protest held at GDC Akhnoor, Road Blocked

AKHNOOR, May 21: Amid yesterday's accident of College student Niharika Sharma outside college due to an accident with a high speed dumper, College students led by Nazar Singh today gathered outside college and blocked the main road. Students were demanding action against rash driving dumpers, Speed breakers outside college and deployment of police cops outside the college gate in the afternoon.
Nazar Singh while addressing the students said that we are demanding construction of speed breakers since long but no one in administration took it seriously resulting in precious loss of life.
Ayush Jamwal Student Leader and Ex Student of GDC Akhnoor lambasted administration for not taking action against rash driving and over speeding vehicles on College road. They demanded strict action against the culprit involved in the accident. Further all students observed two minutes of silence for the peace of departure soul.
Civil Administration along with Police including SDM Akhnoor Akhil Sadotra, SDPO Varun Jandial, Tehsildar Surinder Singh, SHO Hilal Azhar rushed spot and listened to the grievances of students and assured them the timely redressal of their issues. SDPO Varun Jandial while speaking to the students said that the issue of making speed breakers outside college gate has been already taken up with the GREF since 22nd April 2022 and today again we have taken up this matter with their officials and they have assured us that soon the speed breakers will be constructed on both sides out side the college gate. Further in demand of deployment of cops he assured that cops will be deployed during the afternoon outside the college.
Others present during protest are Varun, Shivang, Naveen Kumar, Natiksha Baldotra, Sheetal Baldotra, Raja Chib, Arti Chib, Shilpa Sharma, Muskan Devi, Gourav Sharma, Abhinandan Malhotra, Harsh Sharma, Rahul Kumar, Jatishwar Singh, Jot Singh, Abhi Sharma, Jatin Verma, Deepak Bral, Harsha Sharma, Muskan, Sheetal, Amisha, Nikhil etc.
