GDC Kathua celebrates International Day of Biological Diversity

JAMMU, May 23: Department of Botany of Government Degree College Kathua celebrates International Day of Biological Diversity on 23rd May, 2022 A national level online quiz competition and slogan writing competition will be organized by the Department of Botany, GDC Kathua. The theme of this year was "Building a shared future for all life".
The online quiz and the slogan writing competitions were organized under the overall supervision and guidance of Prof. Sumanaesh Jasrotia Principal of the college. In these events Prof. Ram Krishan HOD Botany acts as Convenor of the Quiz and Slogan whereas, Prof. Rupali Nanda acted as Coordinator to these events. Dr.. Surya Pratap Singh, Prof. Nisha Bhagat, Dr. Shveta Saroop were also members of the organising team.
Prof. Sumanesh Jasrotia, Principal GDC Kathua appreciated the department of botany for successful organizing the quiz and slogan writing competition and encouraged the department for organising more such events in the future. He also emphasized the need of saving the biodiversity on the earth and make the future more sustainable to all living organisms.
Prof. Ram Krishan while giving details of quiz and slogan writing competition said that response of students was overwhelming, as large number of Undergraduate and post graduate students and different research scholars of different colleges and universities of Jammu UT including GDC Kathua, GCW Kathua, Gdc Hiranagar, GDC Nowshera, GCW Gandhinagar, GGM Science College Jammu, GDC Anantnag, PG College Rajouri , Ladakh UT, Madhya Pardesh took part in the Quiz competition.
In the Online Quiz Competition, more than 200 students participated out of which more than 150 Students scored more than 70 percent marks and got e certificate. Shazia Ashraf Naik from GCW Gandhinagar Jammu secured 1st position, Nekha sharma and Vishali from GDC Kathua and Shagun Bhutyal, Khushi Samotra, Aliza Sambyal, Mitali Dhotra, Tanishka Rohmetra from GCW Gandhi Nagar Jammu shared 2nd position. Issha Sharma, Shruti Rajput, Rina Sharma , Sonia Choudhary from GCW Gandhi Nagar Jammu shared 3rd position in the quiz.
In the slogan writing, 50 students from different colleges from J&K UT participated . out of which, Pallavi Sharma and Kashish Jarotia from GDC kathua secured 1st position, Siya Sharma and Nadia Mirza from GCW Gandhi Nagar Jammu, Leela parveen from GDC Kargil secured 3rd position.
The advisory committe of the Quiz Competition comprised of Prof. Romila Gularia Dr. Seema Malpotra Prof. Raj Kiran Prof. Jasvinder Singh Prof. Rakesh Singh Prof. Ritu Bhagat. Others who supported included Dr. J.S. Soodan and other faculty members of different Departments for successful organisation of the event.
