Pace sensation Umran Malik has made Jammu proud after getting a maiden call to play for Team-India in the forthcoming T-20 series with South Africa.
Soon after the news about Umran selection reached Jammu people celebrated the success of a local boy, who has emerged as a role model for the budding cricketers.
Emergence of Umran as an International Cricketer has inspired many youngsters to follow his footsteps. His election in the Indian squad has boosted the morale of young people in the Jammu region. They have started believing that they can also choose cricket as a career.
Umran’s family belongs to the Sunjwan area of Jammu and is now settled in the Gujjar Nagar locality of Jammu city. Umran used to practice on the sand of the river Tawi and is an exceptional talent. As a fast bowler, he possesses all that is required to blossom at the highest level.
He emerged as a frontline bowler for Sun Risers Hyderabad in the IPL and kept on hitting the 150 kph mark in the tournament. Everyone in India, especially the people of Jammu are hoping that he breaks the world record of bowling the fastest delivery.
Umran’s selection in the Indian squad has shattered the myth that Jammu cannot produce fast bowlers. He has proven that hard work is key to success.
Umran’s feat has proven beyond doubt that where there is a will there’s a way. His selection has brought into focus that Jammu region has got raw talent and it needs to be explored. The selectors need to keep an eye on the young boys in Jammu who are striving hard to get noticed. The talent in Jammu needs to be groomed. It needs to be taken a note of. The budding sportsmen need to be provided with facilities they need to develop their talent. The Jammu youth need facilities and once they are provided these at par with the young men with other states, they are bound to shine and no one can stop them from doing so. Many Jammu boys can shine like Umran if they are groomed and shown the way. Umran has made Jammu proud and our best wishes are with them.
