| Poll security reviewed in Reasi | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT REASI, DEC 2 : The Election Observers for Gulabgarh Assembly constituency, Mr. Upendra Kumar Rai and Gool-Arnas Assembly constituency, Mr. Mehtab Singh Seharawat convened a meeting to discuss the security arrangements for the smooth conduct of elections, here today. The District Election Officer (DEO), Reasi, Mr. Sanjeev Verma, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Reasi, Mr. Verinder Sharma and senior officers of BSF, CISF and CRPF were present in the meeting. Speaking on the occasion, the Observers stressed on maintaining law and order at all the sensitive and hypersensitive polling stations of the constituencies besides, ensuring adequate security cover to the poll staff and the voters on the polling day. Speaking on the security deployment, the DEO, Reasi said adequate arrangements have been made for departure of security personnel from their base camps and their arrival at the deployment sites well before the polling day. He asked the different security agencies to create better coordination among each other before leaving to their respective duty areas from Arnas on December 4. He said that Nambardars and Chowkidars of all the villages of the district have already been asked to facilitate the deployed poll staff. Besides, adequate arrangements have been made for providing medicare and ration to the poll staff at various polling stations, he added. The SSP, Reasi, while speaking on the occasion, said that Anganwari workers posted at the ICDS blocks of the district shall assist the security forces in frisking female voters at the polling stations. He further apprised that the staff deployed at far off places can hire porters and ponies to reach their destinations. |
