The meeting was attended by Principal Secretary, Skill Development Department (SDD), Dr. Asgar Hassan Samoon; Principal Secretary, HED, Rohit Kansal; Principal Secretary, School Education, B.K Singh; Secretary Tribal Affairs and Mission Director, Skill Development Mission, Dr. Shahid Iqbal Choudhary; Director SDD, J&K, representatives of Finance department, Agriculture and Farmers Welfare department, Principals and Superintendents of Polytechnics and ITIs, representatives of PwC, State Engagement Officer, National Skill Development Corporation and other officers of concerned departments both in person and through video conferencing.
Speaking during the meeting, Advisor Bhatnagar impressed upon the representatives of PwC that the final consultancy report should present a detailed picture of all the priority sectors of J&K and thereby a suitable plan for development of each trade related to these sectors across the J&K in ITIs and Polytechnic Colleges can be ascertained. He also asked them that the futuristic aspects in terms of industrial development of Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir should be kept in mind while suggesting any measures for the development of Skill training institutes here.
The Advisor further stressed upon the representatives of PwC that through this consultancy report, relevance of training and certification of all the Skill institutes of J&K should be reflected. He asked them that they should also take into the consideration suggestions of different industrial units so that the Skill institutes can be developed as per the requirements of the local industries.
While reviewing some other core aspects of the survey, Advisor Bhatnagar asked the representatives of PwC that possibility for conversion of some ITIs into Advanced Training Centres should also be looked into in trades like Mechanotrics, Robotics, Artificial Intelligence and others. He also asked them to take into consideration the objectives of NEP-2020 with respect to insertion of skills courses in curriculum.
Speaking during the meeting, Rohit Kansal asked the representatives of PwC that specificity of trades with respect to the industries operating across J&K should be carried out so that Skill trades can be developed as per their requirements.
