| Walkovers for Engineers XI, Sainik Colony Club in Football | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Dec 2: Engineers XI and Sainik Colony Club today entered the quarterfinals stages after the teams were awarded walkovers in the absence of opponents in the ongoing Senior Jammu Open Football Championship at Mini Stadium, Parade, here. While Engineers XI got walkover Young Hero, the Sainik Colony Club awarded walkover Young Star. Since the teams were waiting for the opponents at the venue, the organizers engaged them in practice matches so as to entertain the spectators gathered at the venue. In practice matches, Engineers XI played against Nagrota Club while Sainik Colony Club spend time with Vijay Club team. “We have invited only top 14 teams as per their ranking in the last state championship for the ongoing `warm-up’ tournament ahead of State Championship. But, unfortunately a couple of good clubs have failed to turn-up,” vice-president of the JKFA Jammu wing, Dr Nirmolak Singh told SAN. This championship is being organised by Jammu wing of the Jammu and Kashmir Football Association. Next matches (Quarterfinals): International Club to meet J&K Bank at 1.30 pm and J&K Police to meet Jammu United at 3 pm tomorrow. |
