| Udhampur College beats Commerce in Football | | Inter-college competitions | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Dec 2: Government Degree College Udhampur trounced Government SPMR College of Commerce by a solitary goal to enter into the quarterfinals of ongoing inter-college football competitions organized by Department of Physical Education, University of Jammu at GGM Science College ground, here today.
Amarjit Singh scored the only goal of the match. Today’s match was officiated by Harmanjit Singh, Gagan Kumar and Tanpreet Singh. Football competitions are being organised under the supervision of Dr Brij Baloria.
Meanwhile other three scheduled matches for today ended in walkovers. While GGM Science College got walkover Government MAM College (Evening), Bhargwa Degree College Samba awarded walkover PG Department of Law and Sciences.
In another match, both Degree College Bharderwah and New Age College failed to report the venue, resulting into winner of today’s match, Udhampur College finding direct entry into the semi-finals. In fact, Udhampur College was to play against the winner of Bhaderwah College and New Age College in quarterfinals tomorrow.
LAWN TENNIS: Both the scheduled matches for today in inter-college lawn tennis competitions ended in walkovers. In the first match, Government MAM College got walkover Degree College Udhampur while Degree College Kathua got walkover Degree College Rajouri.
Earlier, on the opening day of the five-day competitions yesterday, Government SPMR College of Commerce got walkover Acharya Shri Chandra College of Medical Sciences (ASCOMS). Rest of the seven teams got direct entry into the second round of quarterfinals.
WOMEN CRICKET: Likewise yesterday, no match could place today in the inter-college women’s cricket competitions. In the today’s scheduled match, Government College for Women Udhampur got walkover GGM Science College. Now, in the semi-finals, scheduled for tomorrow, GCW Parade shall take on GCW Udhampur while GCW Gandhi Nagar shall meet PG Departments.
ATHLETICS: According to Assistant Director, Physical Education, University of Jammu, Dr Sonam Angchuk, the Inter-college athletics (men and women) selection trials-cum-screening shall be held on December five and December six at 2 pm at University of Jammu grounds. |
