Bhalla cautions people against hollow slogans
12/3/2008 12:15:38 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, Dec 2: Intensifying his election campaign across Gandhi Nagar constituency, Senior Congress leader and contesting candidate from the constituency, Raman Bhalla has asked the people not to get attracted to hollow slogans, which according to him, had only the potential of creating communal tension instead of doing any good to society.
Addressing public meetings at various places across the constituency today, Bhalla said that the slogans being raised by the political leaders of BJP, NC and PDP during their campaigning were only to mislead the people with a view to gain maximum number of votes in the elections.
"The slogans they raise at this point of time is only to divide the society for political gains and the promises being made are just to lure the people as has been done by them in the past as well," he said and added that it is only the Congress having the guts of giving the practical shape to promises.
Accusing BJP and NC, he said that the leaders of these parties were engaged in creating hatred among different sections just to gain power and it becomes the responsibility of the people of the state to defeat such forces for the betterment of the state and nation as a whole.
" The divergent statements of the leaders of BJP and NC at different places clears the fact that they are by no way committed to serve the society," he said and added that it was only the Congress party which could embalm the wounds of the people inflicted by the governance.
He said that his party has proven itself in nourishing the secular roots of our society and it would do it in future as well for the sake of the overall welfare. “The service of congress since independence is not hidden to any body and it would not allow the vested interests to create any sort of mayhem in the state," he said and added that for the betterment in every respect, it was opportune time to vote in favour of congress.
Urging the People of his constituency to vote in his favor, he said that the entire area witnessed tremendous development during his tenure as MLA Gandhi Nagar and promised that he would leave no stone unturned in making the area more prosperous if voted to power.
