| Army out to win hearts, minds of young buds | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Udhampur, Dec 2: To win the hearts and minds of common populace of Jammu and Kashmir State, education cum motivational tours are being undertaken by the formations/units of Northern Command on a regular basis, to other parts of the country, with the aim to give exposure to the children of remote areas of the state, thereby inspiring them to strive even harder to achieve their goals, join the mainstream and become responsible citizens of the Nation. During last month alone a total of 12 such tours were undertaken by different formations/units of Northern Command. The highlight of these tours is the harmonious mix of boy and girl students of various religions, culture and economic background who come together to embark on an educational rejoice to rest of the country. Out of these, two tours were organized from Bandi to Delhi, Jaipur, Ajmer and Agra and from Budgam to Pune, Mumbai and Delhi respectively comprising a total strength of 60 students and five teachers. After culmination of the recently conducted tour here today Maj Gen Prakash Menon, interacted with the participants of these tours at HQ Northern Command, shared their experience and congratulated them on successful completion of their journey. Speaking on the occasion, Gen Menon said that the aim of these tours is to present diversity of our culture to the school going children of J& K state and expose them to the magnitude of avenues and opportunities available in the country thereby enabling them to choose best career options, become better citizens and serve towards upholding the integrity and sovereignty of our great nation. The occasion was also graced by Maj Gen KN Mirji, Maj Gen MK Gupta and Brig G Murali, along with their wives. |
