| Science express in Udhampur | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT UDHAMPUR, DEC 2: “Sciencexpress”, the State of Art Science Exhibition mounted on a specially designed train was inaugurated by District Development Commissioner, Udhampur, Mr. Ajay Khajuria at Railway station, Udhampur on Tuesday morning . The exhibition, which has be packed for the first time on a train, was conceived by India’s Department of Science and Technology, Germany’s Federal Ministry of Education and Research and the Max Planck Society. The exhibition is being executed and coordinated by Vikram A Sarabhai Community Science Centre, Ahmedabad. The exhibition on wheels with more than 300 large format visual images, over 150 video clips and multimedia exhibits highlighting cutting edge research in Science and Technology would remain open for students in particular and masses in general upto December, 4, 2008 from 10.00 A.M to 5.00 P.M at Railway station, Udhampur. Lauding the efforts of organizers for holding Sciencexpress in Udhampur Railway station, the DDC said that the exhibition would provide an opportunities especially to the students and others having scientific bent of mind to know the glorious legacy of India and future programmes in Science and Technology. He said it would also help the younger generation to develop scientific temper among them and would definitely encourage them to pursue carrier in science. Khajuria said that efforts have already been made to involve maximum number of students to see the exhibition so that they could learn how science is enabling society to face the global challenges of the 21st century. Giving brief detail of the Science Exhibition, Project Coordinator, Sciencexpress, Mr.Dilip Mirzapure apprised that most of the exhibits have been developed by the Max Planck Society, Germany, a Noble Laureates Powerhouse while some exhibits are indigenous. He said other highlights of the Sciencexpress include India’s achievements in IT, Bio tech , Space and Nanotechnology besides film shows on innovations, inventions, discoveries and topical issues. |
