| Poonch gets first grid station | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Dec 2: To stabilize and improve the voltage in the border district of Poonch, the first 132/33 KVA Grid Station has been commissioned. The 20 MVA transformer at the 132/33 KVA Draba-Poonch Grid Station has been constructed under the State Plan. During his first visit to Poonch and Rajouri belt, a few months ago, Governor, Mr N N Vohra, was apprised by several deputations about the slow pace on the up-coming Grid Station and sought his intervention for its completion on priority in view of the problems being faced by the people. Mr Vohra had issued instructions for its speedy execution on a time-bound basis and the project was being monitored, on regular basis, by the senior officers of the Power Development Department. The Governor has been stressing on ensuring efficient utility services to mitigate the hardships of the people, particularly those living in remote and far-flung areas. An official spokesman said here this morning that the 132 KV transmission line linking Draba Poonch with Rajouri Grid Station has also been commissioned. He said that the 35 kilometers transmission line has been constructed under the Prime Minister's Reconstruction Plan. With the commissioning of both the flagship power projects of the State in Poonch district, the spokesman added that the electricity consumers in the border district will get better voltage and stable power supply. It will also help in solving the problem of overloading of the power system in the Poonch district, he said. |
