REASI, May 30: District Magistrate, Reasi Babila Rakwal today presented the letter of benefits (PM Sneh Patra) to two local children enrolled under the PM Cares for Children scheme.
The scheme entails a whole gamut of benefits to support the children who have lost their parents or legal guardian to Covid 19 pandemic.
The Folder contains Letter from PM; SNEH PATRA (certificate of PM CARES); PM CARES for children Passbooks; Health Card of Ayushmann Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana, and gifts for the children.
The scheme was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on May 29, 2021as part of the celebration of "Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav".
This will ensure that the welfare and best interests of Covid affected children are protected.
ADDC, Jyoti Salathia, ADC, Abdul Star, District Child Protection Officer, Pallvi Sharma and Officials from DCPU (District Child Protection Unit), CWC (Child Welfare Committee) and JJB (Juvenile Justice Board) were also present.
Addressing the gathering, the DC emphasized that "PM CARES for Children" Scheme was launched by the Prime Minister of India on 29th May 2021 to support children who have lost both the parents or legal guardian or adoptive parents or surviving parents due to the Covid-19 pandemic, during the period from 11 March 2020 to 28 February 2022. She added that the objective of the scheme was to ensure comprehensive care and protection of children in a sustained manner by providing them boarding and lodging, empowering them through education and scholarships, equipping them for self-sufficient existence with financial support of Rs 10 lakh on attaining 23 years of age and ensuring their wellbeing through health insurance. The DC informed that a portal "pmcaresforchildren.in" was also launched to register the children. The portal is a single window system which facilitates approval process and all other assistance for children.
