JAMMU, June 1: Infuriated over callous attitude of the Government towards their long pending demands, PoJK Displaced Persons today threatened self immolation before the Divisional Commissioner Jammu, who pacified the aggrieved DP persons by assuring necessary action over their issues within shortest possible time.
The delegation of PoJK Displaced Persons, led by S. O. S. International Chairman Rajiv Chuni, had called on Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Ramesh Kumar in his office chambers, here today on an informal invitation of the latter to listen to the grievances and demands of the Displaced Persons.
The delegation of S. O. S. International-an organization for PoJK DPs, was headed by Rajiv Chuni and comprised of Prof N N Sharma, V K Datta, Bhai Ram Singh, Ved Raj Bali, Giani Sujjan Singh, Varinder Singh, Dharam Vir Gupta, Jagjit Singh, Daleep Singh Chib, Prateek Mahajan and others, presented a bouquet to the incumbent Divisional Commissioner Jammu and appreciated his goodwill gesture to call and listen to their issues.
Rajiv Chuni narrated the Divisional Commissioner Jammu about the difficulties being faced by the PoJK DPs, especially in terms of getting Pahari Certificate and cash assistance scheme, which was abruptly stopped by the Government without covering all the targeted families.
Divisional Commissioner Jammu was also apprised about the unanimous decision of S. O. S. The Divisional Commissioner Jammu after listening to the delegation, urged the PoJK DPs not to resort to extreme actions like self immolation as every one's life is precious and important for the Government. Being new to the post of Divisional Commissioner Jammu, he sought some more time to settle this issue of Pahari Speaking People Certificate once for all. The Divisional Commissioner, Jammu promised to personally talk to every officer/official involved in this issue to get it done at the earliest.
