World No Tobacco Day celebrated by Govt Degree College Samba

JAMMU, June 2: In continuation to celebration of Azadi ka amrit mahotsav, Department of Zoology, Pandit Prem Nath Dogra, Govt. Degree College Samba under the able guidance of Professor Surinder kumar organized a poster making Competition on Topic "World No Tobacco Day". Three subthemes were coverd in the events i.e. agricultural impact of tobacco cultivation, Cancer and Tobacco and Health hazards of second hand smoking. Students were asked to express their ideas through painting and sketches. The young minds displayed their artistic skill through an array of poster and power point presentation. Student participated in this competition with immense zeal and enthusiasm and made insightful poster with messages.25 students participated in this event. Professor Sushma sharma, (HOD Zoology) presented welcome address and vote of thanks was extended by Prof. Babita kumari.
Prof. Shoba Gupta, Prof. Ashok kumar and Prof. Vijay Chandan judges the participants and congratulate the students for their creative ideas and drawing skills. Other diginatries present during the ocasssions were Prof. Pawan Gupta, Prof. Yashpal Singh and Dr Manju Bhadwal. An inspirational speech was deliverd by Head of the institution about heath hazards of smoking, second hand smoking and advised the students not to fall prey of attrractuive advertisement. Ekta virdhi, stood first, Shikha Sangral and Rosey Manhas shared second position and third position was shared by Shilpa Rani and Priya Devi of Semester VI. Sanjeev Kumar also shared an impactful power point presentation.
