Three days Awareness Programme on the eve of World Environment Day commenced at GDC Marh

JAMMU, June 2: In view of celebrating World Environment Day, three days Awareness programme on the theme 'Only One Earth' commenced on 2nd June, 2022 in collaboration with Regional Urban Development Agency (RUDA) Jammu. On the very First day, the college signed the MOU with RUDA , Jammu for plastic waste collection, segregation and recycling. The programme started with the welcome address by the Principal Prof. Aekta Gupta, who stressed that sustainability and protection of the environment are the most pressing issues we are facing in the world today. She also briefed about the diiferent ways of living sustainably in harmony with Nature. Guest speaker, Sanjeev Arora, CEO RUDA, Jammu demonstrated the students and faculty about the plastic waste management in Jammu and how their organisation is working day and night at the ground level for making Jammu- pollution free city. He also focussed the segregation of waste at the siource level and impotance of Dry Waste Model. An interactive session was held wherein students of the Eco club and NSS unit along with NSS PO Sachin Kumar participated and discussed the various issues related to their areas. The proceedings of the programme was conducted by Prof. Shallu Gupta and Formal vote of thanks was given by Prof. Anjana Chib. The programme was organised and coordinated by the members of Eco-club and NSS unit, GDC Marh. Balbir Singh (DDC, Member Marh), Parshotam Lal Sharma (Sarpanch, Dhateryal) and other prominent civil society memebrs were also present on the occasion.
