Another Killing
6/3/2022 12:09:31 AM
Terrorists once again struck in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district and shot dead a Bank Manager, Vijay Kumar.
The CCTV footage shows a terrorist entering the unguarded bank premises and firing upon the victim from a close range.
Prior to Kumar’s killing a teacher from Samba, Rajni Bala, was shot dead by the terrorists in same district on May 31 (Tuesday) just two days ago.
The targeted killings of the members of the minority community have created fear. The migrant Kashmiri Pandits posted in Kashmir have been demanding that they should be relocated from the Valley. Last month terrorists had shot dead a KP employee, Rahul Bhat, within his office premises at Chadoora in Central Kashmir’s Budgam district.
Members of the minority community are under threat and are falling prey to the bullets of ultras . The cold blooded of innocents in Kahsmir have sent shockwaves across the Valley as the terrorists have changed their strategy. They are choosing soft targets and are on a killing spree. They are targeting policemen, artists and government employees in broad daylight.
Vijay Kumar’s killing has once again brought to fore that members of the minority community posted in far flung areas are vulnerable and are easy targets for the pistol borne ultras.
Despite assurances from the government that members of the minority communities will be provided all possible protection and security the ground situation continues to be grim as the terrorists are carrying out target killings with ease.
After Vijay Kumar’s killing there were reports that Kashmiri Pandits and members of the minority community have started moving out of the Valley as they are fearing for their lives. Terrorists are trying to recreate 1990’s like situation by targeting Kashmiri Pandits and non-locals. The government will have to take drastic steps to prevent these target killings and restore the semblance of normalcy in Kashmir without wasting anymore time. Only a few days are left for Amarnath Yata to commence and target killings are a cause of concern.
Vijay Kumar’s cold blooded murder has evoked condemnation from every section of the society but the condemnations are not enough. People of majority community need to rise against the terrorism that’s once again out to devour Kashmir.
