| Farooq holds Cong-PDP alliance responsible for Amarnath land row | | Slathia files nomination papers | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, Dec 3: Holding Congress and PDP coalition government responsible for the Amarnath land row, Patron National Conference and former chief minister Dr Farooq Abdullah today said that time has come when the people of the state must isolate divisive and communal forces who are trying to divide the state on communal, regional and religious lines.
Addressing a largely attended public gathering, here today, after filing nomination papers of Surjeet Singh Slathia from Vijaypur constituency, Dr. Abdullah said that Congress and PDP are responsible for the Amarnath land row which gave vent to religion and regional divide in the state.
Dr. Abdullah said attempts are being made by some vested interest political groups to divide the state on communal and regional lines little realizing that the strength of the nation is its secularism. "It is high time that we should isolate such forces who are bent upon to create wedge among communities and regions", he added.
Dr. Abdullah said his party has a dream of transforming the destiny of the state and its people for which the party has conceived an agenda for governance and after coming to power will channelize things in right perspective.
"My party after coming to power will come out with a special package for employment of the youth and shall open new avenues for the young unemployed", he said promising that National Conference will also provide stipend to the unemployed till they are employed.
Surjeet Singh Slathia while addressing thousands of his supporters, after filing his nomination papers here today said, 1996 to 2002 Jammu & Kashmir saw unparalleled development. He said in 1996 when the National Conference government came to power the entire administrative machinery had collapsed and the infrastructure was almost ruined due to ten years of terrorism, but the National Conference with its visionary leadership ensured that not only the entire infrastructure is reconstructed but also unleashed an era of economic development of all the sections of the society.
Slathia said National Conference after coming to power will open up new avenues of employment for the unemployed and offer better opportunities for growth and development of Scheduled Caste and Backward Classes and other downtrodden section of the society.
"The first priority of the National Conference will be to take youth of the state out of hopelessness and despair by redressing the unemployment problem and for that Slathia said National Conference will come out with a special employment package".
Conference government has always worked for the development of the women particularly those belonging to weaker section of the society and shall continue to do so in the future as well, he added.
Slathia said the people of the Vijaypur are testimony to his political career and his commitment to their welfare and his tryst for development of the constituency over the last thirty five years. He promised that if elected to the legislature he will work untiringly for the Vijaypur constituency and finish the un-finished agenda that he has chalked out for the development of the said constituency.
